A homeowner in Huyton contacted Generating Energy about improving an older solar installation that had originally been fitted through a grant scheme. The existing system consisted of five solar panels and a standard string inverter, with no way to store spare electricity for later use.
Our team upgraded the property to an eight-panel solar system with a Sigenergy inverter and 10kWh of battery storage. The complete installation, including testing and commissioning, was completed in one day.
The Challenge
The existing solar system was still generating electricity, but it was a basic installation with limited capacity and no battery storage. When the panels produced more energy than the property needed, the excess electricity could not be retained for use later in the day.
The homeowner wanted to improve the existing system rather than replace equipment without good reason. The aim was to increase solar generation, add battery storage and provide a clearer view of how electricity was being generated, stored and used.
Our Solution
We increased the solar array from five panels to eight and installed a new Sigenergy inverter with 10kWh of battery storage. The upgraded system allows the property to generate more solar electricity and store spare energy rather than immediately sending all unused generation back to the grid.
The stored electricity can be used later in the day or during the evening when solar generation is lower. Depending on the customer’s electricity tariff and system settings, the battery can also be charged during cheaper off-peak periods.
Sigenergy app monitoring gives the homeowner visibility of solar production, household consumption, battery charge and electricity imported from or exported to the grid. Everything was installed, tested and commissioned in one day, with the property left clean and tidy after the work.
The Results
The homeowner now has eight solar panels, 10kWh of battery storage and a modern Sigenergy inverter. Compared with the previous five-panel system, the upgraded installation provides increased generation and much greater control over spare solar electricity.
The customer can store energy for later, make use of off-peak electricity where appropriate and monitor the complete system through one app. The installation was completed in one day, while the full process from the first phone call to final handover took approximately three weeks.
