We recently completed solar installations across two new build homes in Liverpool, helping the developer meet renewable energy requirements while improving the overall energy efficiency of each property.
The aim was to install a reliable, future-proof solar PV system that would support compliance, reduce future running costs for homeowners and make the properties more attractive to prospective buyers.
The challenge
As part of the new build development, the properties required a renewable energy solution to help meet current building regulations and improve their energy performance. The developer also wanted to add long-term value by fitting a system that would not only work from day one, but also give future homeowners the flexibility to upgrade later with battery storage.
Our in-house team installed a 2.73kWp solar PV system on each property, made up of 6 × 455W high-efficiency solar panels per home. Each system was paired with a hybrid inverter, giving the properties a more future-proof setup compared with a standard string inverter.
Although the homes were not fitted with batteries at this stage, the hybrid inverters mean each property is already prepared for battery storage. This allows the future homeowner to add a compatible battery system later without needing to replace the inverter, making the upgrade quicker, easier and more cost-effective.
The complete installation across both new build properties was finished in just 2 days by our own in-house team. This included fitting the solar panels, installing the hybrid inverters, completing the electrical work, testing both systems and making sure everything was ready for handover.
The results
Both new build properties now have efficient solar PV systems installed as standard, helping the development meet renewable energy requirements while giving future homeowners access to lower-cost renewable electricity. The completed project included 6 × 455W solar panels per home, a 2.73kWp solar PV system on each property and hybrid inverters ready for future battery storage upgrades.
Installing a hybrid inverter during construction is a simple way to future-proof a property. Even if battery storage is not installed straight away, the homeowner can add it later without replacing the inverter. This gives them the option to store excess solar energy, increase self-consumption and reduce electricity bills further in the future.
It is a smart decision during the build stage that adds long-term value and flexibility for the homeowner.
