4.35kWp Solar and Battery Installation in Heswall, Wirral

Generating Energy installed a 4.35kWp solar PV system with a 5kW inverter and 10kWh of battery storage at a home in Heswall, reducing electricity bills close to £0 and putting the homeowner in profit during some months.

By The Generating Energy Team

Generating Energy installed a solar and battery system at a residential property in Heswall, Wirral. The system was designed to reduce the homeowner’s reliance on grid electricity by generating power during the day and storing spare energy for later use.

The installation combines a 4.35kWp solar PV array, a 5kW inverter and 10kWh of battery storage. Our team fitted, tested and commissioned the complete system in just one day.

The Challenge

The homeowner wanted to bring their electricity bills down as much as possible. As with many residential properties, the household’s electricity use didn’t always match the times when solar generation would be at its highest.

The system therefore needed enough solar capacity to support the home during daylight hours, together with sufficient battery storage to retain spare generation for the evening. It also needed to be properly matched to the property rather than simply filling the roof with unnecessary equipment.

Our Solution

We installed 10 × 435W solar panels, giving the property a total solar PV capacity of 4.35kWp. Electricity produced by the panels can be used directly around the home to power lighting, appliances, home-working equipment and other everyday electrical loads.

A 5kW inverter manages the electricity produced by the panels and works with the 10kWh battery storage. When solar generation exceeds the property’s immediate demand, the battery can charge instead of allowing all the spare electricity to be exported straight away.

The stored electricity can then be used later, including during the evening when household demand often rises and solar production falls. Depending on the homeowner’s tariff and system settings, the battery can also provide flexibility around cheaper off-peak electricity rates.

The Results

The property can now cover a large proportion of its electricity use with power generated from its own roof. Combining the 4.35kWp solar array with 10kWh of battery storage allows the homeowner to retain more of that generation and purchase less electricity from the grid.

The homeowner’s electricity bills have been brought close to £0. During some months, income from exporting spare electricity has exceeded the cost of imported power, leaving the homeowner in profit. The complete installation was achieved in a single day with minimal disruption.

“The system was installed in a single day and has brought our electricity bills close to zero, with some months leaving us in profit. The team worked efficiently, explained how the system operates and had everything running before the end of the day. We’re now using much more of the electricity generated by our own roof instead of buying it from the grid.”
