Generating Energy was asked to inspect an existing solar and battery installation at a home in Croxteth, Liverpool. The original SolaX inverter had developed a fault, the batteries hadn’t been connected or secured properly, and the surrounding cabling was untidy.
After assessing the equipment, we removed the old inverter and battery system and installed a new Sigenergy setup. The project also included six new AIKO solar panels, while the customer’s usable existing panels were retained and connected to the new inverter.
The Challenge
The customer needed more than a routine equipment upgrade. The original inverter had developed a fault, the batteries hadn’t been properly secured and the cabling around the system required significant improvement.
However, not every part of the original installation needed to be discarded. The existing solar panels were still usable, so the new design needed to retain that working equipment while replacing the unreliable and poorly installed components.
Our Solution
We removed the old SolaX inverter and battery equipment before installing an 8kW Sigenergy inverter, 20kWh of Sigenergy battery storage and a Sigenergy Gateway. The new equipment was securely fitted, correctly connected and finished with much neater cable routes.
Six new AIKO solar panels were added to increase generation. The existing solar panels remained in service and were connected to the new Sigenergy inverter alongside the new array, allowing the homeowner to keep using equipment that was still working effectively.
The Sigenergy Gateway provides additional system control and can support backup power during an outage, depending on how the installation is configured. We also installed bird protection around the new AIKO array and connected the system to Sigenergy smart monitoring.
The Results
The homeowner now has a cleaner, more reliable and properly installed energy system. The finished setup includes an 8kW inverter, 20kWh of battery storage, a Sigenergy Gateway, six new AIKO panels and the original solar panels that remained suitable for use.
The batteries are securely fitted, the cabling has been tidied and the new array is protected against birds nesting underneath the panels. The system also gives the customer more generation, substantial energy storage and clearer monitoring through the Sigenergy platform.
