Generating Energy designed and installed a large solar and battery system for a homeowner in Huyton, Liverpool. The customer wanted to reduce their electricity bills, make effective use of the available roof space and install a system that could support changes to their energy use in the future.
The completed installation combines 17 × 535W AIKO solar panels with a 10kW Sigenergy inverter and 10kWh of battery storage. Our team completed the installation in two days, with the full project progressing from the initial call to final handover in three weeks.
The Challenge
The customer wanted to generate more of their own electricity and reduce the amount of energy purchased from the grid. They also wanted to avoid choosing a system that would only meet their immediate requirements.
Future additions such as an EV charger, heat pump or other high-demand electrical equipment could increase the property’s electricity use. The solar array, inverter and battery therefore needed to provide strong performance now while giving the homeowner a practical foundation for future upgrades.
Our Solution
We installed 17 × 535W AIKO solar panels, providing just over 9kWp of solar generation. The panels were paired with a 10kW Sigenergy inverter and 10kWh of battery storage, allowing spare solar electricity generated during the day to be stored for use later.
The inverter and battery were installed together in the garage, providing a protected location and helping us keep the equipment and cable routes neat. We also fitted a smoke alarm in the garage as part of the battery installation.
Bird protection was installed around the complete solar array to help prevent pigeons and other birds from nesting underneath the panels. Once the physical installation was complete, the system was tested, commissioned and connected to Sigenergy monitoring for the customer.
The Results
The homeowner now has a substantial solar and battery system designed around both their current electricity use and possible future demand. Solar electricity can be used directly within the property, while spare generation can be stored in the 10kWh battery for use during the evening or at other times when the panels are producing less.
The battery can also be used with a suitable off-peak tariff, giving the customer the option to store cheaper grid electricity for later use. The full system was installed in two days, and the project was completed within three weeks of the customer’s initial call.
