Future-Proofing a New Build with Solar & Battery Storage

A new build home in Liverpool fitted with a 3.36kWp solar PV system, hybrid inverter and 20kWh battery storage to reduce running costs and improve energy independence from day one.

By The Generating Energy Team

We recently completed a solar and battery storage installation for the owners of a newly built home in Liverpool. The homeowners wanted to go beyond simply meeting current energy efficiency standards and create a property with lower running costs from day one.

To achieve this, our in-house team installed a high-efficiency solar PV system with a large battery storage setup, helping the homeowners maximise the energy they generate while also taking advantage of cheaper off-peak electricity tariffs.

The challenge

The owners of this new build home wanted a renewable energy system that would reduce their reliance on the grid and protect them from rising electricity prices. Rather than only focusing on solar generation, they wanted a complete system that could store excess energy during the day and provide usable power during the evening, overnight and on cloudier days.

The solar and battery system installed

Our in-house installation team designed and installed a system made up of 7 × 480W high-efficiency solar panels, giving the property a total solar PV system size of 3.36kWp.

The system was paired with a hybrid inverter to manage solar generation, battery charging and household energy use intelligently. A 20kWh battery storage system was also installed, giving the homeowners generous storage capacity for both solar energy and cheaper off-peak electricity.

Smart battery storage for lower energy bills

The 20kWh battery allows the homeowners to store excess solar energy generated during the day and use it later when the property needs it most.

The battery system can also be charged overnight using cheaper off-peak electricity tariffs. This gives the homeowners another way to reduce energy costs, especially during the winter months when solar generation is naturally lower.

The full installation was completed in just 2 days by our own in-house team. This included fitting the solar panels, installing the hybrid inverter and battery storage system, completing all electrical work, testing the system, commissioning it and handing everything over to the customer before the system went live.

The results

The homeowners now have a modern renewable energy system designed to reduce running costs, increase energy independence and make the most of both solar generation and cheaper overnight electricity rates.

The completed installation included a 3.36kWp solar PV system, 20kWh battery storage, hybrid inverter technology and off-peak tariff compatibility. The system is expected to save the homeowners approximately £1,600 per year.

Why pair a new build with battery storage?

Installing battery storage from the outset gives homeowners the best opportunity to maximise the value of their solar panels. Excess solar energy generated during the day can be stored and used later, reducing reliance on the grid when electricity prices are usually highest.

When combined with an off-peak electricity tariff, the battery can also charge overnight at a much lower rate. This creates an additional source of savings and helps keep energy bills lower throughout the year.
